There are things in our everyday life that could contain gluten and although you may not eat them, they could end up in your mouth or your child’s mouth by accident.
Common things to check ingredients for:
- Stamps & envelopes
- Hairspray & Shampoo
- Pet Food
- Medications & Vitamins
You might look at this list and laugh, “Why would I eat my dog food?”. It’s things like these that can be extra dangerous because you don’t think of it causing problems for you. But if you feed your dog or pick up some loose pieces on the ground and the gluten residue get on your hands you are already at risk. If your child grabs a handful of the pet food when you aren’t looking or is playing with it and you touch it and bring your hands to your mouth for any reason, you could have a reaction.
