DIY Natural Beauty Care Tips

February 18, 2015

We all know true beauty comes from inside, but it can’t hurt to spruce up the outside a little too! These DIY recipes are simple, and contain natural ingredients that you can find right in your own kitchen. A perfect activity for an at home spa day with family or friends!

Skin nourishing oatmeal-honey mask

Cold weather can be especially hard on skin, leaving it dry, chapped, and sore. Give your face what it needs with this all-natural scrub that you can make with a few ingredients from your pantry.

You will need:

Mix all of these ingredients together in a small bowl. Massage gently onto face and leave for 5-10 minutes. Rinse, pat dry, and follow with your favorite moisturizer for soft, happy skin!

Pearly whites with baking soda and lemon juice

Baking soda is one of those amazing ingredients that you can use to replace anything from shampoo to dish soap, but lately we’ve loved it for its ability to safely and naturally whiten our teeth!

You will need:

  • 2 tbsp. baking soda
  • The juice from ½ a lemon or 1 tbsp.

Combine the lemon juice and baking soda and use a q-tip or cotton ball to apply to your teeth. Leave on for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then rinse. Do this about once a week for best results.

Coconut oil for shaving

This one is for both guys and gals looking to get a smooth shave using all natural ingredients. Coconut oil (like baking soda) is a miracle product that you can use for just about anything. This coconut shave scrub leaves you with exfoliated, moisturized, beautiful skin.

You will need:

  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • A few drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)

Mix all ingredients together in a container of your choice. Smooth over legs, shave, and rinse. It’s as easy as that!

DIY Face toner

Toner works wonders for oily, acne-prone skin. Not only does it give you a refreshing deep clean, but it also helps to absorb excess oils and shrink pores.

You will need:

Pour both ingredients into a glass container and apply to skin with a cotton ball as often as you need!
