We all have our thoughts on healthy foods and sometimes find mistakes in our theories. For the longest time I thought foods like soy products were good for me but then I later found out that soy is a pretty significant carcinogen so I now avoid soy every chance I get. There are a plethora of “healthy foods” that end up being so deceiving but here at Rudi’s, we’re here to help you and let you know what you should stay away from!
Vegetable oils
They’re from vegetables! How could they be bad for you? Vegetable oils are often times broken down and form saturated fats that in turn are not good for you. While most think butter is an unhealthy choice, butter is natural and releases good fats that your body needs (to a certain extent). So when thinking vegetable oil, switch to butter!
Diet Soda
Zero calories? Zero sugar? I’M IN! I would consider changing your mind quickly. How could your sweet drink have zero calories or sugar? Diet sodas use aspartame as a placeholder for sugar. Aspartame is also a strong carcinogen and very far away from natural or organic. If you’re feeling strongly about your health, leave the artificial flavors at the grocery store.
Juice boxes
You might think that sending your little one off to school with a juice box, is healthy and will keep them alert throughout the day when in reality, juice boxes are packed with sugar that can often times reach the same amount as a whole can of soda. Be sure to purchase juices that are free of artificial ingredients and high sugar content to keep your kiddo happy.
These are just a few of the deceitfully healthy foods available but this blog should get you thinking about other foods that you eat regularly and investigate their true nutritional value and adjust your diet as needed. If you can think of any that aren’t mentioned here, post it on our facebook page to help other Rudi’s fans make smart decisions at the grocery store!
