Eating organically has spread like wildfire over the last several years. The United States is one of the leading countries when it comes to organic markets but where is this organic food coming from? After doing some research I found this great website called Organic World.
I was able to find these interesting facts about the world through organic eyes.
Highest per capita organic consumption- Switzerland
Largest organic market- United States
Most organic producers- India
Most organic agricultural land- Australia
Most of our organic food seems to be coming from Australia and India. Which is interesting because I would have never thought of those places if someone were to ask me where is my food from.
Along with organic living, people have also taken to buying produce and other foods from local suppliers. This is one of those steps that can be taken to ensure fresh nutrient rich foods for you and your family. Boulder has a farmer’s market during the summer that is always the place to be- it is packed with locally grown veggies, fruits, flowers, herbs, and so much more. They also have people selling locally made things like jams and spreads. I have always like eating organically and supporting local businesses so this was a go to place for me every week.
Starting universal and funneling down to your hometown, eating organically has become a lot easier for people to do. Whether or not your food comes from the farmer next door or Australia, it is always good to not only look at the label to ensure it’s organic but also where your food is from.
