Baked on the Bright Side

Using Water to Stay Fresh and Alert During the Day!

July 9, 2012

For most of the nation, the summer heat arrived a bit earlier than expected. Here in beautiful Boulder, Colorado we’ve been experiencing a streak of above 90 degree days with bright sunshine and little cloud cover. We love the sunshine, the warmth it provides and the abundance of activities that can be enjoyed outdoors, what we don’t love? The fact that consuming the right amount of water tends to fall by the waist side.

While it is important to take advantage of this great season, it is crucial to keep yourself hydrated to remain fresh and alert through all parts of your life, including time spent at the office. That’s right, for most of us summertime is a break from the cold but not from our work duties. To remain at your peak on and off the clock stay hydrated and keep these little tid-bits in mind.

Our brain is 90% water. You heard me right! Downing water not only fuels your body but also your mind. When you are properly hydrated you’ll think clearer which helps your concentration and productivity – this keeps you on track at the office and makes your boss happy!

H2O relieves fatigue. It’s easy to feel worn out from the heat, especially when you’re taking advantage of the sun and spending a lot of time outdoors. Water helps to flush out toxins and waste from your body, leaving you fresh and invigorated to take on all that your day holds. To keep yourself feeling best fill up a large water bottle and carry it with your throughout the day. Having it by your side will remind you to drink up!

Good mood food. I know, I know, water is a liquid but to your brain and body it is the food that fuels all. When you are properly hydrated everything in your body will work as it should, helping you to feel your very best. And when your body feels good, so will you, leaving you in a pleasant mood for all to enjoy.

Now that you have a few important facts to stash away, tell your friends! Let the importance of hydration be a community movement and we’ll all feel our best, allowing this summer to be one that truly shines.
